Field Studies Sanctuary

Nature-Based Homeschool Support

Our homeschool offerings provide nature-woven curriculum and support for families seeking education rooted in reverence, ancestral wisdom, and wholeness.

We use the phrase “nature-based” with deep intentionality — recognizing that the Earth is not a backdrop for learning, but a living teacher. In this sanctuary space, land-based education means entering into right relationship with nature’s intelligence, Indigenous knowing, and the symbiotic rhythms that have sustained life for generations.

By remembering our place within the web of life, we nurture a sustainable and soulful way forward — one that honors the child’s inner light while tending the future with care.

A Curriculum Rooted in Place, Adaptable Anywhere

While our curriculum honors the land and seasons of Montana, each block can be adapted to your home state or region. Explorers in every community can connect with their own plants, seasons, and traditions.

Custom curriculum design to suit your local environment is available — just let us know, and we’ll help you tailor the journey for your family.

Hands-On, Nature-Based Learning at Home

Childhood is wild, wondrous, and woven into the rhythms of the Earth. Our K–8 homeschool curricula arise from this truth — guided by seasonal cycles, ancestral wisdom, and the deep knowing that the soil itself is a teacher.

Field Studies Sanctuary is growing a living body of curriculum that serves two paths:

A standard offering designed to carry children through the year with nature-based lessons, hands-on learning, and creative integration

And customized curricula crafted for individual families, attuned to each child’s unique rhythm, learning style, and relationship with place

This is education that unfolds through the senses — planting seeds, studying clouds, observing bird calls, feeling the heartbeat of the Earth through play and presence. A walk in the woods becomes a science lesson. A garden becomes a classroom.

For children growing up in cities or without direct access to wild spaces, a future companion app will bring nature into reach — offering connection, wonder, and living Earth teachings wherever they are.

Technology may assist the path, but the invitation remains clear: step outside, touch the soil, follow the tracks, listen for the wind, and remember. Learning begins where wonder leads.

As the Sanctuary takes root, a tree will be planted for every child whose learning is nourished through this work. A growing forest — seeded with intention, tended with love, and rooted in the possibility of every child.
