Their leadership has taken many forms, often quiet, yet always consequential. Through presence, creativity, and persistence, women have shaped families and futures, work that has rarely received the recognition it deserves.

This initiative restores focus to what carries a lineage forward. The wisdom women carried, the stories women held, and the futures women shaped with their hands and care are silken threads in the tapestry of humankind.

The Founding Mothers Project gathers this wisdom and holds it as something worth remembering. In time, this work is intended to grow into a foundation, one built to solicit grants and direct real support toward women and the gifts they carry into the world.

That same commitment to remembering carries forward into what we’re building next. Field Studies Sanctuary is laying the groundwork to publish books by women, marginalized women, and women of color, creating a path for stories to reach the world while they’re still being lived, rather than waiting to be gathered after the fact.

Our vision centers on walking alongside writers as genuine partners, honoring the author’s voice as the root of every book that grows from this work. We’re building toward publishing memoir, ancestral knowledge, healing traditions, and the countless forms a woman’s story can take, grounded in respect, transparency, and real care for the person behind the pages.
