Bylaws of the Sacred Assembly of Soil and Soul (SASS)

Article I – Name
The name of this religious organization shall be Sacred Assembly of Soil and Soul, hereinafter referred to as “the Church.”
Article II – Purpose
The Church is organized as a faith-based religious assembly for spiritual, educational, and charitable purposes in alignment with Section 508(c)(1)(A) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The Church exists to offer:
Spiritual gatherings and ceremonies
Earth-based ritual and seasonal observances
Food-as-medicine teachings and ministry
Land-based learning, education, and intuitive wisdom
Sacred fellowship and communal service
Ancestral remembrance and intergenerational healing
Article III – Statement of Faith
We affirm that each being carries a sacred connection to Source. We recognize the divine in all life, and uphold the sovereign right of every soul to express and explore their spiritual path with trust, respect, and consideration. We welcome all peaceful traditions that honor life and dignity.
Article IV – Membership
Membership is open to any individual who resonates with the mission, values, and spiritual direction of the Church.
No dues or tithes are required.
Members are invited to participate in gatherings, community offerings, and sacred land care.
Membership may be informal or documented for internal stewardship purposes.
Article V – Leadership Structure
The Church shall be governed by a minimum of three Stewards who provide guidance, care, and accountability to the spiritual body.
Steward Roles:
Steward of Vision – Oversees spiritual direction, teachings, and alignment with sacred purpose.
Steward of Operations – Manages organizational systems, logistics, and internal structure.
Steward of Community – Facilitates outreach, gatherings, and sacred hospitality.
Additional stewards, advisors, or elders may be invited to serve based on spiritual gifts and community need.
Article VI – Meetings and Gatherings
Sacred gatherings shall be held in alignment with the cycles of the Earth, Spirit-led timing, or community need.
Leadership gatherings shall occur a minimum of twice per year for reflection, decision-making, and spiritual tending.
All decisions shall be made in the spirit of consensus, discernment, and mutual respect.
Article VII – Finances
All funds received shall be used exclusively to further the Church’s mission.
The Church may receive donations, offerings, grants, or other forms of contribution.
The Steward of Operations shall maintain transparent records and provide stewardship reports upon request.
Article VIII – Property & Land
The Church may hold, lease, or receive property and sacred land in alignment with its mission.
Land stewards shall be appointed as needed to care for sacred sites, gardens, or gathering spaces.
Article IX – Non-Discrimination Policy
The Church welcomes all beings regardless of race, ancestry, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, or economic status. All who come in peace and respect are welcome.
Article X – Dissolution
In the event that the Church dissolves, any remaining assets shall be transferred to another faith-based or spiritual organization whose values align with the mission of the Church.
Article XI – Amendments
These Bylaws may be amended by consensus of the Church’s Stewards. All changes must remain in alignment with the Church’s purpose and spiritual integrity.
